Private Testing Center’s Hepatitis B test is a simple, painless and affordable way to get answers about a Hepatitis B infection. This blood test detects the surface antigent present when the Hepatitis B virus is active in your body. This test does not rule out a dormant infection or vaccination. *NOTE: We also offer tests to establish immunity to Hepatitis B. Ask your Private Testing Center counselor for details.

You MUST WAIT at least 4 weeks from your last contact of concern, or else the test won’t be accurate. Private Testing Center will always determine how long has passed since a contact of concern, so we can be certain you are not wasting your time and money by testing too soon.

– What is Hepatitis B? –

Hepatitis B is a virus that attacks your liver, causing serious complications and many times, can even be fatal. Hepatitis B resulted in 887,000 deaths in 2015.

The virus spreads by sexual contact, sharing needles, or prolonged household contact with infected people. If caught by an otherwise healthy adult, with treatment it can be fought off 90-95% of the time. The body then develops immunity and it cannot be caught again. However if a child under 6 catches it, the chance they won’t be able to fight it off grows dramatically, and it becomes a chronic infection that sticks around for life and leads to liver complications.

There has also been an approved Hepatitis B vaccine around for many years as a preventative measure.

Most people don’t experience strong symptoms while they have the disease. The only way to know for sure that you have Hepatitis B is to get tested!
