Welcome to Private Testing Center

Florida is ranked 1st among 50 states for number of HIV diagnoses in 2015.

A recent report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shows that there are three sexually transmitted diseases which are sharply rising in Florida and across the nation. Cases of chlamydia nationwide increased by more than 5,000 between 2014 and 2015, while cases of gonorrhea have been found to increase by 3,000, and cases of syphilis increased by 1,000.

Public Health Experts see this trend as completely preventable, because STDs are treatable and even curable, some with just simple medicines. But it won’t happen by keeping these issues in the dark or hoping they go away.

“This really has to be a community effort, all hands on deck,” said Cory Neering, vice president of education at Planned Parenthood South, East and North Florida.

Because taboos surround talking about about sexual questions, relations and infections, Neering said, individuals often feel uncomfortable inquiring about sexual health and safety. “It’s just really a lack of this open and honest dialogue.”

“Universities should make sexual health a priority during orientation, when students should be informed on their legal rights,” said Diane Straub, chief of the adolescent medicine division and professor of pediatric health at the University of South Florida. “Educators must acknowledge that STDs are connected to conversations about contraceptives, and those conversations are related to discussions about consent. It’s important to tie these topics together.”

Private Testing Center strives to offer affordable, discreet and convenient testing in an effort to prevent the spread of STDs and HIV.

The CDC estimates there are 20 million new cases of STDs in the U.S. each year, with 50% of those new cases falling on young people ages 15 to 24.

In one study, they examined 1,000 adolescents and found that 1 in 4 of them had at least 1 common STD, and 15% were infected with more then one. Most participants in the study showed no symptoms and didn’t even realize they were infected. Even among people who only had one partner in their lifetimes, 1 in 5 still had an STD — but of those with three or more partners, 50% had an STD.

The good news is that many STDs are curable, and those without a cure are treatable. You owe it to yourself and others to find answers and protect yourself. Private Testing Center has 1500 locations nationwide in one of the largest laboratory networks anywhere in the world. Same day appointments are available with scheduling as soon as 15 minutes after calling. The average lab visit lasts just 15 minutes and some results are available the following day.
